چکیده

Aeroelastic instabilities are some of the critical issues affecting reliability and safety military commercial aircraft. In this study, a coupled computational fluid dynamics structural (CFD-CSD) capability was developed for transonic aeroelasticity analysis in time domain. To expedite application CFD solver aeroelastic simulations, morphing technique mesh deformation CFD, eliminating successive calling grid generator. The solution then tightly with CSD by fully implicit method. three-dimensional (3D) is finite element model solving 3D elasticity equations using second-order tetrahedron elements. coupling between aerodynamic loads elastic deflections based on spline matrices radial basis functions. results from CFD-CSD simulations two-dimensional (2D) rigid airfoil AGARD 445.6 wing reasonable agreement experimental data available public Also, reported paper highlight importance viscous effects Mach numbers at above dip, thereby highlighting necessity to use Navier-Stokes-based as opposed Euler. It shown that enables consideration complex aircraft configurations such underwing stores, which can be flutter sensitivity studies.

Nonlinear Aeroelastic Analysis of Joined-wing Aircraft

Joined-wing aircraft are being designed for ‘sensorcraft’ configuration. Joined wings lead to multiple load paths and constraints. The focus of this work is to understand the nonlinear structural as well as aeroelastic behavior of joined wings. The paper presents a formulation for the nonlinear aeroelastic analysis of joined wings. Results are presented for two joined wings configurations. Over...

Identification of a Nonlinear Aeroelastic Aircraft Wing Model

The “reverse path” spectral method, a frequency domain based nonlinear system identification technique, is considered for identifying nonlinear aeroelastic models. The method is based upon a multi-input/multi-output spectral conditioning process that mutually uncorrelates the linear and nonlinear components of the system response. Conditioned frequency response estimates derived from this proce...

Rolling active control for an aircraft of seamless aeroelastic wing

This paper presents an investigation into the controllability for an aircraft of seamless aeroelastic wing. The research is aimed at the design of control laws for the aircraft rolling by actively operating a pair of an unconventional hingeless flexible leading and trailing control surfaces at different flight speed. The main challenge is how to achieve a specified rolling rate for the aircraft...

Smithornis broadbills produce loud wing song by aeroelastic flutter of medial primary wing feathers.

Broadbills in the genus Smithornis produce a loud brreeeeet during a distinctive flight display. It has been posited that this klaxon-like sound is generated non-vocally with the outer wing feathers (P9, P10), but no scientific studies have previously addressed this hypothesis. Although most birds that make non-vocal communication sounds have feathers with a shape distinctively modified for sou...

Nonlinear Aeroelastic Modeling and Analysis of Fully Flexible Aircraft

This paper introduces an approach to effectively model the nonlinear aeroelastic behavior of fully flexible aircraft. The study is conducted based on a nonlinear strainedbased finite element framework in which the developed low-order formulation captures the nonlinear (large) deflection behavior of the wings, and the unsteady subsonic aerodynamic forces acting on them. Instead of merely conside...
